My Room - Comfort with a View

My check-in at The Westin Miyako Kyoto was a breeze, thanks to the attentive staff who promptly took care of my luggage and led me to my room. The room I was assigned to was a spacious corner suite, a choice that enhanced my experience significantly. As I entered, I was greeted by a breathtaking panoramic view of Kyoto. The suite’s large windows offered a picturesque scene of the city’s contrasting landscapes – the serene foothills to the north and the bustling city center to the west.

The suite’s spacious balcony was a highlight, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the cityscape. Inside, the large, comfortable bed and sizable desk made both rest and work enjoyable. And you know that I highly value both of them. The modern bathroom was another highlight, equipped with a generously sized shower that provided a rejuvenating experience.

Bar "ROKUZA" - Local Flavors and Relaxing Moments

Choosing to spend my evening at the bar “ROKUZA”, conveniently located within The Westin Miyako Kyoto, turned out to be a delightful decision. The bar’s high-end decor created an inviting atmosphere, matched by the professionalism of its staff, who provided impeccable service throughout the evening.

The culinary experience was very nice, featuring an array of Japanese delicacies. I indulged in a dinner set that included an assortment of sushi, each piece skillfully prepared and showcasing the freshest ingredients. The addition of snacks and tempura offered a delightful contrast with its light, crisp texture, complementing the sushi perfectly.

Sampling local Japanese wine and Kyoto Dry Gin was an enjoyable exploration of regional tastes. These drinks, with their distinct profiles, enhanced the overall dining experience, making my evening at Rokuza Bar a memorable part of my stay at The Westin Miyako Kyoto.

Starting my day at The Westin Miyako Kyoto, I headed to the Raquo all-day dining restaurant for breakfast. The buffet there was a showcase of diverse flavors, blending Japanese and Western culinary traditions. Among the Japanese offerings, the miso rice stood out for its authentic taste, while smoked salmon added a touch of indulgence to the morning.

The Western dishes complemented the Japanese selections well. Pancakes, a classic breakfast staple, were light and fluffy, providing a sweet contrast to the savory Japanese options. I am sure all of you know how much I love to complement my evening and morning meals with a hot bath. Well, one of the reasons I keep coming back to The Westin Miyako Kyoto is it’s famous Spa Kacho. It presents a unique blend of modern luxury and natural wellness. This spa, one of the largest in Kyoto, features natural hot springs sourced directly from the hotel’s grounds, offering a rare and authentic experience. The facility includes a well-equipped gym and a skincare treatment center, catering to a variety of relaxation and health needs.

The design of Spa Kacho, particularly the outdoor and semi-open air baths, draws inspiration from the nearby Suiroku Kaku aqueduct, evoking a sense of ancient Roman bathhouses. The serene ambiance, coupled with the elegantly smooth lines of the decor, creates a peaceful retreat. Opting for the hot pot experience, I found it to be rejuvenating, adding a touch of tranquility to my stay.

Located near the engineering marvel of the Kaege Incline, the hotel offers guests a glimpse into Kyoto’s historical significance. The nearby Nanzenji Temple, set in the Higashiyama forests, presents a serene Zen Buddhist experience. Visitors can also appreciate the Roman-style aqueduct, a unique architectural piece in the region.

While these historical sites are a stone’s throw away, the hotel’s location also allows for convenient access to other prominent areas of Kyoto. I found myself pausing frequently to admire these vistas, feeling a deep sense of tranquility.
