Osaka is a fantastic city in the heart of the Kansai region, full of warm and friendly people. It is also known as the “Second City” of Japan, following Tokyo. It has a lot to offer for people who want to know more about its history, culture, and what to do there.

One of my favorite places is the Osaka Castle, built in 1583. The castle’s history spans over 400 years, and its original purpose was to protect the city from invaders and serve as a home for the rulers. Today, it serves as a tourist attraction and cultural landmark for both locals and visitors alike. Its massive walls and moats, and the beautiful keep, are a must-see.
For those who want to wander around and get in touch with the area, there are also a few great options. You can enjoy traditional Japanese culture at the Tenjin Festival or go shopping at Umeda Sky Building. There are also several amazing neighborhoods worth exploring. These are the flashy and modern Namba and the nostalgia evoking Shinsekai.
Osaka is also known for its great food. I am especially a fan of its street food scene. In my opinion, nothing beats a freshly made authentic takoyaki! In addition to this great street food scene, there are also many excellent restaurants all over the city that serve traditional Japanese dishes as well as international cuisine.
