Let's Explore Yokohama

Yokohama is the second-largest city in Japan and the capital of Kanagawa Prefecture. It is located in the southern part of Tokyo Bay, only about 30 minutes south of Tokyo.

It has a fascinating history that dates back to the 18th century when it was just a tiny fishing village. The actual city was founded in the middle of the 19th century as a port town for foreign trade and was the only port in the area open to foreign trade during the time of the Edo Shogunate. The city has been growing rapidly since then. Today, it has a population of 3 million people and is one of the most important economic centers in Japan, and remains one of its most important ports.

Additionally, it became one of the first cities in Japan to be connected to a railway line and became an industrial hub for shipbuilding, steel production, and oil refining.

Yokohama has an international feel, as it is home to people from all over the world, but it also retains its Japanese roots by holding festivals and events that are traditional to Japan.

It is a city that has something for everyone. From the arts and culture to the food and drink, there are plenty of things to do in Yokohama. There are tons of places to visit, such as museums, parks, and restaurants.

The city’s downtown area features various attractions such as the Yokohama Museum of Art, Red Brick Warehouse, J-World, and Minato Mirai 21.

However, one of its most recognizable tourist attractions is the Yokohama Chinatown. It is Japan’s biggest Chinatown and a place people go to enjoy authentic Chinese food, buy souvenirs and traditional dress, and get a glimpse into what life is like for the locals.
