Kyoto

Let's Explore Kyoto

Kyoto is the former capital of Japan with a rich and impressive history. It was the first permanent capital ever established in Japan and remained so for over 1,000 years. It is not surprising to learn that its name means Capital City.

Unexpectedly, Kyoto is the capital of Kyoto Prefecture and also the country’s seventh most populated city. It is most famous as a premier tourist destination. In fact, it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country.

Because this amazing city was home to many emperors, influential figures and organizations, you can find many beautiful temples, stunning gardens, and other wonderful historic buildings and cultural artifacts all over the city. The city’s narrow lanes wind their way through a maze of traditional shops and restaurants, making for an enchanting stroll.

In the city, there are over 2,000 Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines, so it is not surprising that it is also known as the “City of Temples“. It is truly one of the most beautiful cities in Japan. It is recognized on the world stage by UNESCO, which designated 17 World Heritage Sites in the city.

There are many tourist attractions to visit in Kyoto, such as the Golden Pavilion, Kinkaku-ji Temple, Ryoan-ji Temple, and Nijo Castle, which are all beautiful places to visit when visiting Kyoto. Keep in mind that not all tourist attractions are not all located in Kyoto proper, but many are found scattered around the suburbs and neighboring towns.

The Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of our favorites, and it’s famous for its thousands of red torii gates, which lead to a mountain shrine on top of Mount Inari.

All in all, you will not be disappointed when you visit Kyoto, that much is sure, especially if you are a fan of culture and history!
